About Us

Reputedly a Smugglers Inn dating back to the 15th century, the Sorrel Horse is a community-owned quintessential English country pub.  We offer a friendly warm welcome, fantastic food and a great selection of beers and wine.

Nestled in Shottisham, a picturesque rural Suffolk village, the Sorrel Horse is the perfect stopping off point for exploring the area.  Given our fantastic location on the Bawdsey Peninsula in glorious countryside, the pub is especially attractive to walkers, cyclists, dog walkers and riders. Superb walks, open rolling countryside and the quiet and genteel nature of the area make the village a popular destination for visitors.

Our menu is very much influenced by the local seafood available on our doorstep, although you will still find many pub classics too.  We are very lucky to have local fishermen delivering to us daily, meaning our menu changes often depending on the catch of the day!

The pub is run by Clement Sigaut & Rebecca Murland (who also run Smashing Wines).  Rebecca and Clement took over running the pub in May 2021, with the help of Head Chef, Edwige Wella and Manager Cameron Blackwood-Pugh.
