A selection of Local walks close to the The Sorrel Horse, Woodbridge & Sutton Hoo.

We hope you enjoy this selection of local walks (click on the text to download PDF). We are very lucky to have so many wonderful walks on our doorstep - we hope you enjoy discovering this unique and beautiful part of Suffolk.  Please feel free to make a lunch reservation and enjoy one of these walks before or after your meal.  Don't forget to inform the pub if you are bringing dogs with you so we can accommodate you accordingly. 

Stone Pebbles

Walk 1

From Rock Barracks Across Sutton Heath. Approximately 4.2 km / 2.6miles

 

A short walk through Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and Scientific Interest.. Could be muddy in places, with some uneven paths, not suitable for wheelchairs, pushchairs or cycles.

Pebble Beach

A circular walk around Sutton and Hollesley Common.

Approximately 15.2 km / 9.5 m Circular walk through

 

Sandlings Heath and historic lands. Could be muddy in places, with some uneven paths, not suitable for wheelchairs, pushchairs or cycles.

A circular walk to and Anglo-Saxon lookout point and along the Deben Estuary.

Approximately 9.9 km / 6.2 m

 

Short walk through farmland with glorious estuary views and historic features. Could be muddy in places, with some uneven paths, not suitable for wheelchairs, pushchairs or cycles.

From Hollelsey Village.

Approximately 3.4 km / 2.1 miles

 

A short walk along an ancient waterway, and passing an area used as a fair in the middle ages. Could be muddy in places, with some uneven paths, not suitable for wheelchairs, pushchairs or cycles.

A circular walk around Sutton Common. Approximately 8.3 km / 5.2 m

 

Short walk through Sandlings Heathland. Could be muddy in places, with some uneven paths, not suitable for wheelchairs, pushchairs or cycles.

A circular walk along The Deben Estuary to Methersgate Quay.

Approximately 12.6km / 7.9m

 

Wonderful estuary views with the opportunity of seeing beautiful wild fowl in this internationally important area, returning via heathland. Could be muddy in places, with some uneven paths, not suitable for wheelchairs, pushchairs or cycles.

Along the Deben Estuary to Sutton Hoo.

 Approximately 19.2 km / 12 miles

 

Circular walk along the estuary returning through historic areas and heathland. Could be muddy in places, with some uneven paths, not suitable for wheelchairs, pushchairs or cycles.

A circular walk to Lower Hollesley Common.

Approximately 7.2 km / 4.5 m
